Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support our research program in Oriental Mindoro. The successful candidate will assist in the conduct of various research activities, focusing on the Purposive Search of the Ilin Cloudrunner.

  • Assess forest stands and other habitats within research sites
  • Draft and complete short progress and technical reports
  • Assist in preparing the logistical needs required for primary data gathering
  • Assist in preparing presentations of key findings to relevant stakeholders
  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Perform other assignments and activities related to duties and responsibilities assigned by the Research Program Officer

The ideal candidate should have a graduate degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Forestry or a related field, with knowledge of program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Strong diplomatic skills, excellent oral communication and writing skills, as well as high computer literacy, are essential for this role.

As a Research Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  1. Conducting research and assessments in forest stands and other habitats
  2. Compiling and analyzing data, and drafting reports and presentations
  3. Coordinating logistical arrangements for research activities
  4. Collaborating with local government agencies, IPs, NGOs, and other stakeholders
  5. Working sensitively with the local community, considering rural and cultural issues

Key qualifications include:

  • Graduate degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Forestry or a related field
  • Knowledge of program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Excellent diplomatic and communication skills
  • High computer literacy (MS Office applications, GIS, modeling, statistics)
