Job Summary

We are seeking a professional who will interpret in person and over video for patients with limited or no English language proficiency. The interpreter will work closely with healthcare providers and other hospital personnel to facilitate communication and bridge cultural gaps.

The ideal candidate will have fluency in written and verbal English, Spanish, and Portuguese. A Medical Interpreter Training Course is also required. National Certification in Medical Interpreting is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret in person and over video for patients and families with limited or no English language proficiency.
  • Sight translate forms and instructions according to department practice.
  • Recognize cultural differences and facilitate communication between families and providers.
  • Provide general information to help patients navigate the healthcare system.
  • Maintain competency through independent study and continuing education programs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of medical interpreting experience.
  • Fluency in written and verbal English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
  • Completion of a Medical Interpreter Training Course.
  • National Certification in Medical Interpreting is preferred.
