Job Title

A Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the revenue cycle of optometric practices. This involves processing insurance claims, reviewing and correcting claims, submitting payments, and researching rejections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage accounts receivables and maintain up-to-date records to ensure timely payment.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to submit claims and resolve any issues.
  • Generate revenue by making payment arrangements, collecting outstanding balances, and monitoring delinquent accounts.
  • Maintain accurate records of Medicare bad-debt costs.
  • Secure outstanding balance payments for services rendered to employees.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and ensure timely payment.
  • Handle denied claims and appeal if necessary.
  • Reconcile payments and post to patients' accounts in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience as a US Medical Accounts Receivable/Medical Billing Specialist.
  • Strong experience in eyecare related billing in an optometric practice setting.
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding practices.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare billing process.
  • Familiarity with healthcare insurance plans and related policies.
  • Experience with HIPAA regulations.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with medical billing software.
