As a key member of the R&D team, this role oversees the development and implementation of innovative products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leveraging market research to inform product decisions
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth
  • Developing and maintaining high-quality products that meet customer needs
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead competitive benchmarking and taste evaluations of best-selling products
  • Coordinate consumer research initiatives with R&D and Marketing
  • Analyze consumer trends and equity studies to generate actionable insights
  • Recommend new ideas and initiatives based on market data
Quality Assurance & Technical Services:
  • Oversee quality inspections of raw materials and finished products
  • Develop HACCP plans and post-launch monitoring activities
  • Provide recommendations on food safety and quality in product design and store operations
  • Promote and improve the department's quality management system
  • Manage R&D kitchen operations, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance
  • Ensure availability of tools, raw materials, and supplies for testing and evaluation
  • Develop and implement inventory tracking programs for food and non-food items
Team & Organizational Leadership:
  • Manage workload distribution across the technical services team
  • Recommend developmental programs for lab aides and technical staff
  • Collaborate with third-party agencies for personnel performance and feedback
  • Drive adherence to department policies and procedures

This role requires a strong understanding of food science, sensory evaluation, and food analysis. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills, as well as effective communication and teamwork abilities.

A Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology or a related field is required, along with at least 5 years of R&D experience in food service or manufacturing, including 3 years in a supervisory role.

Experience in new product development or food innovation is an asset.
