A high-level analyst position with a focus on financial analysis and reporting.
Job Description
The Senior Financial Analyst will conduct in-depth analyses of revenue, cost of sales, client margins, SG&A expenses, and various system data for historical trends, current operations, and future projections. They will collaborate with senior management to provide insightful reporting that informs critical decisions regarding revenue, clients, and expense management.
Responsibilities
- Analyze statistical data and apply principles of accounting to examine past, present, and future operations as well as revenues and expenditures.
- Develop expertise in our projection model, updating metrics needed for accurate and timely projections which may include revenue, sales, and labor by client and detailed analyses.
- Create financial models, prepare projections, and perform research and analysis on all aspects of finance and operations.
- Maintain regular meetings with the VP of Finance to develop project plans and communicate status.
- Update projection model as required to accurately project new or revised data and communicate changes.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of accounting, interpreting business transactions, and journalizing properly.
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Recommend financial actions based on available accounting options.
- Support budgeting processes, gathering information, analyzing, and reporting from multiple systems.
- Using online training and on-the-job experience, become an expert in Business Intelligence (BI) within Ultimate Software.
- Design and maintain user reports in BI to analyze and provide data to other departments and Finance.
- Utilize internal software and metrics to provide departmental budget and actual data and related analyses.
- Perform other reporting tasks as needed.
- May design, implement, and maintain accounting systems that control GL, reporting, receivables, and expenditures.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Undertake administrative tasks to support above functions.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects related to internal and external customers, team members, and management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
- Possess strong, proven Excel skills to create complex analyses.
- Have strong accounting skills related to the GL/Financial statements and reconciliations.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or possess at least 4 years of progressive experience.
Communication & Leadership Skills
- Show ability to seek out, gather, and analyze data from all organizational perspectives.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively read and write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and presentations.
- Exhibit strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to influence and persuade others.
Skills
- Display good quantitative and qualitative skills; ability to solve practical problems.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to handle and resolve issues within a team, department, and client process.
Mathematical/Analytical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills:
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) Expert Level Excel
