Financial Controller Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Financial Controller to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in overseeing financial operations, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Develop and implement strategic financial plans aligned with company and client objectives.
    • Lead and mentor a team of financial professionals, fostering a culture of teamwork and comradery.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing tailored financial advice and solutions.
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulatory guidelines.
    • Monitor and analyze financial performance metrics, providing actionable insights for business improvement.
  • Financial Accounting:
    • Consolidate subsidiary profit and loss accounts to create results for the company and its affiliates.
    • Manage and drive output from the financial accounting functions to ensure key deadlines and timetables are met.
    • Assist the CFO in managing the annual audit process with external auditors.
    • Ensure timely preparation and presentation of budgets and forecasts across the company and its affiliates.
    • Preparation of finance SOPs, procedural documents, collaboration on system automation and process improvement tasks.
    • Preparation of state and federal tax returns, as required.
  • HR & Recruitment:
    • Identify staffing needs and participate in recruitment efforts to build a skilled workforce.
    • Develop training programs to enhance team members' technical skills and professional development.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to foster continuous improvement and career growth.
    • Conduct team member onboarding to ensure smooth integration into the team and understanding of company processes and standards.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • At least 5-7 years of proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role, preferably in an outsourced accounting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive results.

Proficiency in Netsuite, QBO, and Xero is preferred, as well as cost accounting experience and a high level of organizational skills to manage, plan, organize, and implement strategic plans.
