About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Strategic Procurement Expert. As a key member of our Commercial team, you will play a critical part in supporting commercial activities within our Global Contract Management System (GCMS).

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure compliance with BHP's Charter, Code of Conduct, Our Requirements (ORs), and Group Level Documents (GLDs). You will build strong relationships with internal stakeholders while adhering to our values.

You will undertake various tasks such as GCMS, 1SAP, and Procon support activities relevant to Commercial processes, demonstrating a high level of accountability for associated outcomes. Additionally, you will ensure accurate data completion within systems and tools, identifying issues like missing values, outliers, errors, and insufficient data.

One of your key responsibilities will be to administer documented Commercial processes, appropriately evidenced to support Business and Functional governance and assurance requirements. Furthermore, you will identify opportunities to improve output, process automation, standardization, or simplify people, process, and/or tools, presenting these opportunities to team leaders.

As a strategic thinker, you will lead contract execution and analysis to maximize operational and financial performance, mitigating exposure and risk. You will execute end-to-end commercial outcomes to deliver project key value drivers, such as schedule, cost, and quality, using market research, supplier evaluation, and fact-based negotiation.

You will source information, plan, and conduct analyses to support evidence-based decision making. Moreover, you will apply intelligence on industry trends and market dynamics to drive enhanced decision making and planning.

In addition, you will gain support and negotiate outcomes that achieve mutually beneficial goals. You will identify and assess risks, make risk-informed decisions, use BHP's risk management framework, and build a risk-aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.

Lastly, you will mitigate people, environmental, and community risks across the value chain, aligning with sustainability and public policy.About You

To succeed in this role, you will need experience in procurement, preferably in a large multinational company environment. Previous commercial, project management, or quantity surveying or construction experience on capital projects in the mining, resources, or oil and gas industry would be well regarded.
