Main Responsibilities
  • We manage and lead the delivery of risk services to support commissions, providing line management leadership and guidance as needed.
  • Accountability lies with us for the risk management performance of assigned commissions.
  • We design effective risk frameworks and strategies tailored to each commission's needs.
  • Our team oversees clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams on all risk matters for assigned commissions.
  • We partner with clients to meet their expectations and build strong professional relationships.
  • We provide expert advice and support to project teams in administering the risk process, focusing on risks affecting key project objectives and escalations.
  • We facilitate and drive the delivery of risk workshops to achieve timely outcomes.
  • We collaborate with Project Managers to identify mitigation opportunities and minimize risk exposure.
  • We ensure risk mitigation action plans are developed, owners appointed, and project plans updated and monitored regularly.
  • Our team delivers quantitative risk analysis (cost and time) for projects and programs.
  • We assess contingency adequacy as part of regular reporting cycles.
  • We produce monthly risk reports, both externally to clients and internally to project teams.
  • All activities and operations must adhere to Mace policies, client requirements, and applicable laws.
  • We provide line management to the team and other project members.
  • We use our expertise to mentor and assist in personal and career development of junior risk team members.
  • We integrate risk management with PMO and planning disciplines effectively.
  • We assist the hub Risk Lead with resourcing and recruitment for assigned commissions.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience or equivalent in delivering project risk management services on major construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction projects, interfaces, and lifecycles.
  • Deep knowledge of providing risk leadership in one or more sectors (e.g., rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals).
  • Experience in effective risk leadership on complex construction projects.
  • Experience in setting up effective risk management assurance frameworks/strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of risk tools, techniques, and software (e.g., Active Risk Manager, riskHive, @risk, Primavera Risk Analyser).
  • The ability to manage uncertain activities with significant solution or outcome uncertainty.
