Professional Health Records Analyst

The Medical Coding Specialist plays a vital role in the healthcare industry by accurately assigning diagnosis and procedure codes to patient records. This involves utilizing ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS or other designated coding classification systems in accordance with established rules and regulations.
Patient types include low acuity inpatient, OB/NB, acute psych, and 1-day stays.
Responsibilities- Extract relevant clinical information from patient medical records.
- Code diagnoses and procedures correctly, including modifiers, and resolve any coding discrepancies.
- Respond to audits and implement necessary changes to coded accounts based on agreed findings.
- Maintain adherence to AHIMA's Standards of Ethical Coding.
- A minimum of one year of experience in inpatient medical record coding is required.
- Certification in AHIMA or AAPC coding credentials (CPC, CIC, CCS) is mandatory.
- Remote work setup.
- Shifting schedule with morning and mid-shift rotations.
- Two consecutive rest days.
- Twenty paid time-off (PTO) days per year.
