Patient Service Representative Job Description

At our organization, we are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Patient Service Representative to join our remote team in family medicine and internal medicine support.

This role involves providing top-notch service to patients via phone calls, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and maintaining accurate patient records. Your experience in primary care workflows will be instrumental in coordinating visits efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming callers professionally and addressing their needs promptly
  • Scheduling appointments for annual exams and chronic care follow-ups
  • Verifying patient insurance coverage and eligibility
  • Maintaining and updating patient records accurately
  • Assisting with patient portal setup and troubleshooting
  • Collaborating with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow

You will play a vital role in ensuring timely and efficient support for patients.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in family medicine or internal medicine
  • Proficiency in Athena EHR, including scheduling, documentation, and patient communication features
  • Strong knowledge of primary care visit types and insurance requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
