The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Writer-Editor who will play a pivotal role in developing and refining written content for college applications. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for brainstorming ideas, providing detailed feedback, and emphasizing clarity, style, and structure.

This position requires a high level of skill and adaptability. You will need to research a wide range of topics and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. A strong understanding of the college application process is essential, as well as exceptional writing and editing skills.

Responsibilities

  1. Writing and Editing: The Writer-Editor will collaborate with the College Admissions Team's Consultants to create engaging essays, provide constructive feedback to students, and edit drafts to improve grammar, clarity, style, flow, structure, and word count.
  2. Research: Depending on the student's interests and profile, the Writer-Editor will conduct thorough research to enhance their work.
  3. Collaboration: As part of the Editing Team, Writer-Editors will assist colleagues with drafting, brainstorming, augmenting, and reviewing assignments, particularly those with urgent deadlines.
  4. Administration and Logistics: Writer-Editors will handle administrative tasks associated with their assignments, including communicating logistical needs, organizing send-outs, drafting email updates, scheduling review meetings, notetaking, and preparing meeting notes.
  5. Business Development: During the off-season, the Writer-Editor may participate in projects that contribute to the growth of the team and company overall.
  6. High-Level Skill and Integrity: We do not permit the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT or Bard, as AI-generated content automatically disqualifies a student's application. If found using AI tools, termination is immediate.

Requirements

  1. Exceptional English verbal and written skills with a strong grasp of grammar.
  2. A degree from a 4-year program in English, Literature, Journalism, Education, or related fields is preferred, although graduates from other fields are encouraged to apply.
  3. Experience working for an education consulting company specializing in college admissions is beneficial but not mandatory.
  4. A portfolio with a minimum of three written samples (one creative piece and one research sample) is required.
  5. Experience working during PST hours is desirable but not necessary.
  6. The ability to edit and write effectively without relying on AI tools is essential.
  7. Willingness to participate in an Internship Day before training is necessary.
