WASH Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled WASH Specialist to join our Global Program team. This is a remote position that can be based in any of our program countries.

The successful candidate will inform the design, development, and implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects and activities across the organization. You will contribute to the WASH technical strategies through a multi-sectoral, collaborative approach and support staff development and learning around best practices in WASH programming.

About the Role:
  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrate a consistent witness for Him in dealings with people both within and outside the organization.
  • Act as an advocate to raise awareness of the needs of children and understand Christ's mandate to protect them.
  • Uphold Compassion's core cultural behaviors and commit to prioritizing child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks, and activities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote capacity development to National Office specialists in emerging areas of interest in WASH programming and facilitate opportunities for learning exchange.
  • Represent the organization and present WASH technical programs at relevant forums to enhance its reputation in the international development community.
  • Collaborate with other Global Design Specialists in designing WASH solutions in the context of disaster and provide WASH technical support for disaster response operations when needed.
  • Support the technical evaluation of WASH-related strategic alliances and provide oversight to the implementation of strategic alliance-related WASH interventions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or a similar WASH-related field.
  • Master's degree preferred in a WASH-related or International Development field.
  • 10+ years of experience working in this or a similar position or field.
  • Advisor-level experience with a WASH program in a developing country is desirable.
  • Experience in project planning and management is a plus.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
