Medical Virtual Assistant Role

A Medical Virtual Assistant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the best interests of healthcare providers, patients, and medical establishments are met. Working closely with medical professionals or health insurance companies, they provide administrative support to streamline various processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage inbound calls from and outbound calls to patients, providers, and healthcare insurance companies regarding inquiries, appointments, and data verification.
  • Maintain excellent phone etiquette and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Navigate through Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) such as Cerner, Epic, AthenaNet/AthenaHealth, and NextGen to obtain medical history.
  • Verify healthcare insurance coverage and eligibility for patients.
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, appointment scheduling, email management, record management, and time-keeping.
  • Take charge of health promotion, explanation of care plans, admissions, new patient intake, and front-desk triage.
  • Establish a professional relationship with medical professionals and patients by acting as a primary liaison between patients and providers.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA policy at all times.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a medical-related field.
  • Familiarity with medical terminologies.
  • Healthcare-related degree is highly preferred.
  • Intermediate skills with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office.
  • HIPAA certification is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain impartiality.
  • Highly organized and computer-savvy individual.
  • Open to working night shifts.
