Accountant for Cannabis Brand

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team as a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant. We are seeking an individual who thrives in an established environment, has a passion for maintaining accurate financial records, and enjoys contributing to the success of a forward-thinking company.

The ideal candidate will possess strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis. Experience with Fathom (or comparable financial reporting platforms) is also highly desirable.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining accurate and organized financial records, ensuring seamless bookkeeping processes.
  • Posting daily transactions in QuickBooks Online.
  • Processing invoices, receipts, purchase orders, accounts payable/receivable, and supplier/vendor payments.
  • Reconciling bank statements and general ledger monthly.
  • Reconciling company credit card statements monthly.
  • Preparing financial data and reports using Excel and Fathom.
  • Extracting and compiling expense submissions via Dext.
  • Supporting payroll activities, issuing refunds, and supplier payments.
  • Identifying and correcting errors or discrepancies, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
  • Assisting with audit preparation and reporting as needed.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience, preferably in a remote environment or the cannabis industry.
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or finance (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong Excel skills: pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.
  • Experience with Fathom (or comparable financial reporting platforms).
  • Comfortable using Dext or similar receipt-processing tools.
  • Solid understanding of AP, AR, reconciliation, general ledger, and financial compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving acumen.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
