Environmental Sustainability Manager Job Description

The role of Environmental Sustainability Manager plays a crucial part in formulating and maintaining an extensive roadmap for environmental, social and governance practices that align with corporate goals and investor expectations.

This involves developing and implementing a robust ESG strategy that integrates environmental targets into asset management, leasing and property operations to achieve sustainability.

A key responsibility is to stay updated on regulatory trends and emerging ESG standards both locally and globally to ensure compliance and competitive advantage.

The manager will also be responsible for certifying green buildings and overseeing the annual GRESB benchmarking process for the property portfolio. Additionally, they will need to track and report on various environmental parameters such as energy consumption, water usage, waste management and carbon emissions across all assets.

Furthermore, the role involves collaborating with tenants to promote sustainable practices and reduce shared environmental impact. This may include educating them on best practices and encouraging their participation in sustainability initiatives.

To be successful in this position, one would require:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability Management or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in delivering sustainability/ESG programs or green building roles.
  • Direct experience with green building certifications and ESG reporting.
  • Knowledge of real estate operations and investor ESG framework.
