Financial Analyst Role Overview

The Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting both head office and portfolio companies with financial reporting, compliance, and month-end processes. This position involves preparing month-end accounts, budgets, and forecasts, as well as analyzing significant movements and variances.

In this capacity, you will assist with the preparation of monthly BAS, GST, and FBT returns, and support the completion of full-year statutory financial statements for audit. Additionally, you will help roll out head office finance initiatives, report system-related issues, and escalate errors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of month-end accounts for head office and portfolio companies, including collation and input of portfolio company TB's.

  • Support management with the preparation of budgets and reforecasts for head office and portfolio companies.

  • Provide analysis and commentary on significant movements month-on-month or to budget, and investigate significant variances.

  • Prepare month-end journals and manage payment processes where required.

  • Prepare month-end reconciliations, including fixed assets, deferred revenue, leases, and employee liabilities.

  • Collate and consolidate accounts and budgets.

  • Roll forward and populate monthly reporting packs and templates required by Exco and shareholders.

  • Assist with reporting and compliance obligations.

  • Preparation of monthly BAS, GST, and FBT returns.

  • Assist with the completion of full-year statutory financial statements for audit.

  • Assist with the preparation of tax reporting schedules for tax filing.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (Business or equivalent, with an accounting major).

  • CPA/CA Professional accreditation required.

  • 2+ years of accounting/bookkeeping/audit experience, previous experience in SAAS companies desirable but not essential.

  • Previous experience of consolidations of multi-jurisdiction groups also desirable but not essential.

  • Possess a sound understanding of, and exposure to, Accounting Standards namely AASB 3 Business Combinations; AASB 16 Leases; IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.

  • Experienced in using Xero, MYOB Advanced, and Netsuite (preferred).

  • Confident, team player, and can work independently.

  • Attention to detail and task accuracy.

  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills.
