Design Drafter

The role of a Design Drafter involves creating accurate and detailed plans, drawings, diagrams, animations, and schematics from sketches, notes, or specifications. This includes using SolidWorks or other CAD software to develop designs that meet client requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Developing and producing detailed design drawings, specifications, assemblies, animations, and BOMs.
  • Reviewing and analyzing sketches, specifications, and data to create accurate layouts and resolve design issues.
  • Modifying and revising designs to address deficiencies and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Performing thermal, structural, and environmental analyses using FEA tools.
  • Maintaining organized drawing databases, libraries, and document control.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma, associate/bachelor's degree, or certificate in Mechanical Drafting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design, drafting standards, and ability to create manufacturing/assembly drawings.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks 2D/3D modeling and drafting; knowledge of SolidWorks assemblies, PDM Vault, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with ECOs/PCNs, BOMs, and high-volume manufacturing; background in manufacturing or automotive industry a plus.
  • Basic understanding of stress/pressure analysis, hydraulic systems, and tooling design.
  • Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with good typing and general technical/software proficiency.
