Job Overview

The Senior Tax Accountant is a key member of the tax compliance team, responsible for delivering high-quality working papers and supporting the onshore team with client tax compliance reports.

This senior role also handles fundamental and core aspects of clients' tax compliance and may assist with advanced tasks provided by the Accounting Manager or Service Delivery Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and lodge individual income tax returns
  • Prepare and lodge business activity statements
  • Prepare and lodge installment activity statements
  • Prepare and lodge fringe benefits tax returns
  • Manage bookkeeping in client accounting files including Xero, MYOB and occasionally Quickbooks
  • Process payroll in client accounting files including Xero and MYOB
  • Upload invoice payments for clients
  • Process quarterly superannuation payments
  • Produce monthly management reports (i.e., P&L and balance sheet) for clients from their accounting platforms
  • Account for Division 7a loans
  • Provide tax planning advice
  • Assist with trust distribution minutes
  • Review work prepared by junior accountants as needed
  • Perform any task deemed necessary by the Account Manager involving client management
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to improve own skills and share knowledge with the team
  • Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for businesses operating through companies and trusts
RequirementsQualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance and/or Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) is preferred
Key Skills
  • Expertise in Australian taxation and compliance
  • At least 4-5 years of experience in Australian accounting or taxation
  • Knowledge of accounting tools such as Xero, MYOB
  • Ability to learn new systems and tools as needed

  • Ensures quality of work being delivered without supervision
