Duty Engineer Job Description

The Duty Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of hotel equipment and facilities. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving abilities.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all hotel equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with established standards.
  • Monitor and analyze daily utilities readings to optimize efficiency.
  • Supervise engineering employees to ensure compliance with Engineering Standards and Procedures.
  • Conduct regular shift briefings to inform staff of hotel activities and operational requirements.
  • Manage technicians to maintain machinery equipment and record work processes.
  • Oversee the energy management function of the Engineering Department to minimize costs and environmental impact.
  • Evaluate and implement safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Analyze energy costs and expenditures for the department to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain high personal grooming and hygiene standards as an example to direct reports.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of engineering.
  • Certificate from a Technical College in Mechanics or Electricity or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with OH&S policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and lead by example.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented with a strong desire to learn.
