Sr Site Reliability Engineer

Job Overview:

The Sr Site Reliability Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our systems. This individual will be responsible for driving SRE best practices, leveraging their extensive knowledge of SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, toil reduction, and reliability vs. velocity trade-offs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a deep understanding of SRE principles, with a focus on applying them in real-world scenarios to drive tangible results.
  • Drive SRE adoption and culture change across teams and applications, serving as a catalyst for this critical shift.
  • Promote incident management, on-call practices, and blameless postmortems to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Bring 5+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services to the table, providing valuable insights into their application.
  • Utilize strong knowledge of Kubernetes, including scaling, workload optimization, network policies, service mesh, and troubleshooting to maintain system efficiency.
  • Apply expertise with infrastructure as code to streamline deployment processes and minimize errors.
  • Reliability & Observability
    • Develop a solid grasp of monitoring, logging, and tracing to ensure seamless system performance.
    • Design and implement alerting strategies aligned with SLOs/SLIs, guaranteeing prompt issue resolution.
    • Optimize application performance, resiliency, and cost efficiency in cloud-native environments through hands-on experience.
  • Automation & Tooling
    • Acquire proficiency in at least one modern programming language (preferably Python) for automation, reliability tooling, and operational improvements.
    • Stay familiar with CI/CD pipelines and release engineering best practices to ensure efficient workflow.
    • Develop expertise in automating reliability tasks, reducing toil, and scaling best practices across multiple applications.
  • Cultivate the ability to evangelize SRE best practices and influence engineering/product teams in adopting them.
  • Share your experience mentoring engineers and establishing communities of practice around reliability.
  • Employ strong stakeholder management skills to balance product delivery goals with reliability requirements.
  • Maintain excellent communication skills, serving as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
