Medical Documentation Specialist

As a Medical Documentation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare setting by accurately and timely documenting patient encounters. This will enable medical professionals to focus on patient care while ensuring precise records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document real-time patient interactions during virtual or recorded consultations using Electronic Health Records (EHRs)
  • Accurately capture patient histories, physical exam findings, diagnostic impressions, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions
  • Update and maintain charts, medication lists, allergies, and problem lists
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as templating notes and handling visit summaries
  • Review prior records to provide context for current visits
  • Maintain communication with providers for clarification and accuracy of documentation
  • Ensure all documentation is HIPAA-compliant and meets clinical and legal standards
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and discretion in handling sensitive patient data

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • At least 1–2 years of experience as a medical scribe or in a clinical documentation role
  • Familiarity with medical terminologies and clinical workflows
  • A healthcare-related degree is highly preferred
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office
  • Experience with EHRs such as Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth is a plus
  • HIPAA Certification is a plus
  • Fast and accurate typing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organized and highly focused
  • Open to working night shifts

    • Computer Memory/RAM: 8.00 GB
    • Computer Operating System: At least Windows 10/11 64-bit or macOS Ventura
    • Headset: Any USB-type headset with noise-cancelling feature
    • Camera: Capable of a clear and crisp video output
  • BACK-UP
    • OPTION 1 (BACKUP SYSTEM):
      • Computer Processor: Intel Core i5-5000 (5th Gen or higher) or AMD Ryzen 5 or higher
      • Computer Memory/RAM: 8.00 GB
      • Computer Operating System: at least Windows 10/11 64-bit or macOS Ventura
      • Headset: Any USB-type headset with noise-cancelling feature (Optional)
    • OPTION 2 (POWER SUPPLY - UPS):
      • Must be capable of powering your work station for at least 3 hours
      • Typically a device with 240Wh or higher will be sufficient
      • Must be capable of accepting all the plugs required to maintain the primary device and work environment (device, monitor, modem, cell phone if using as internet backup)
