Patient Services Representative Job Overview

This role involves handling a wide range of activities related to patient inquiries and concerns. The primary tasks include understanding the needs of patients through interviews and listening to their concerns, followed by ensuring that those needs are met by coordinating information from various sources such as consumers, family members, medical personnel, and administrative staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming calls according to established procedures and departmental standards.
  • Assist patients in addressing their queries and concerns.
  • Collect outstanding balances from patients.
  • Support third-party entities like insurance companies in resolving queries regarding patient accounts.
  • Make outbound collection calls according to procedure and departmental standards.
  • Provide assistance to patients with billing-related queries and concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality by safeguarding protected health information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Demonstrate team spirit and support for department and company goals and policies.
  • Maintain good attendance records and punctuality by arriving on time for work and breaks.

Requirements And Skills:

  • A college graduate or at least two years of college education is preferred.
  • Degrees or courses related to the medical field are advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
