Software Maintenance Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a talented Software Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of Linux-based infrastructure and applications, covering all layers of the stack.

This is an exciting chance for a technologist with a passion for Linux and open source to build a career with our company and drive success for our customers, community, and organization.

The role entails resolving complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open source software. You will maintain close working relationships with our Field, Support, and product engineering teams, participate in upstream communities, develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work with upstream for inclusion.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open source software
  • Maintain close working relationships with our Field, Support, and product engineering teams
  • Participate in upstream communities
  • Develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work with upstream for inclusion
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess exceptional academic credentials, a background in Computer Science or a related field, experience with Linux and open source software, and proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, C, or C++.

  • Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Linux distributions and open source software
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages
  • Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker, LXC, and LXD
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms like OpenStack and Kubernetes
