Job Description

The role of a Residential Drafting Specialist involves creating detailed drawings and plans for residential construction projects. This includes generating lot-specific drawings, revising existing plan documents, and organizing work for computer access. The successful candidate will have experience with residential construction drafting and be familiar with building codes and permitting standards in WA and OR.

This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work accurately and efficiently under tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be able to analyze and defend drawings to jurisdictional reviewers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate lot-specific drawings and revise existing plan documents
  • Organize work for computer access and maintain accurate agency submittals
  • Provide timely support to builders on-site and expedite permitting by liaising with city/county staff
  • Produce address-specific plans within set deadlines and update the plan library per manager's directives
  • Field questions and update previously distributed work promptly
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An associate's degree in a related field; bachelor's degree is preferred
  • 2-5 years of drafting experience or equivalent
  • Residential construction drafting experience required
  • Familiarity with building codes and permitting standards in WA and OR preferred
  • Ability to conduct internet research and familiarity with local GIS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
