Job Title: Legal and Data Compliance Officer

Overview:

This role involves supporting legal professionals with their tasks and ensuring that data privacy compliance standards are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide crucial support to lawyers by focusing on legal tasks such as research, document preparation, case preparation and assisting with trial preparation. Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations and legal precedents in support of developing case strategies.
  • Assist in reviewing contracts and service agreements with client accounts.
  • Assist in drafting various legal documents such as pleadings and correspondences.
  • Manage all aspects of case handling, including fact investigation and evidence gathering, witness interviews, preparation for hearings and trials, organization of exhibits and management of deadlines.
  • Maintain organized records of legal documents and evidences in both paper and electronic filing systems.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop the company's data privacy policies, ensuring alignment and compliance with relevant laws and regulations including RA 10173.
  • Implement effective data protection policies, procedures, and security measures across the organization.
  • Regularly conduct audits and risk assessments to identify potential gaps in compliance with data privacy policies.
  • Education and raise awareness of employees on data privacy principles, responsibilities, policies, and procedures.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for data protection authorities and regulatory agencies.
  • Respond to inquiries from individuals regarding personal data and handle data breach incidents according to established procedures.

Requirements:

  • Relevant education and/or certification; preferably a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) graduate.
  • Preferably with at least one year's work experience as a paralegal.
  • Prior involvement in data privacy matters would be advantageous.
  • Research, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, communication skills; a team player; initiative; flexibility and adaptability; strong work ethic.

Qualifications and Benefits:

  • Salary range above Php20,000 (dependent on qualifications).
