Empowering Inclusive Education Expert

This role is centered around enhancing education systems to cater to the needs of Roma children. As an expert in inclusive education, you will work with a dedicated team to create tools and resources for schools to promote desegregation.

The objective of this project is to provide quality education to Roma children, thus improving their skills, knowledge, and opportunities. You will contribute to developing a sustainable system for monitoring elimination and prevention of segregation in educational settings.

You will be responsible for conducting an international review of best practices in addressing education segregation for Roma children, developing a capacity-building toolkit, and supporting the drafting of a National Roma Education Desegregation Action Plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct an international review of best practices in addressing education segregation specifically for Roma children and promoting inclusive education. Identify at least 3–5 best practices related to whole-school approaches, monitoring, policy development, and collaboration with the community and parents.
  • Develop a toolkit for capacity building of regional and national stakeholders and deliver capacity-building workshops. Prepare a draft toolkit, present to stakeholders, and incorporate feedback.
  • Provide necessary technical expertise to project activities based on the findings of the international review and toolkit. Revise the research plan for monitoring Roma education segregation. Review the final report with recommendations and the draft National Roma Education Desegregation Action Plan.
  • Support presentation of project deliverables for events, including preparation of presentations and participation in events.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A master's degree in international development, human rights, education, or a relevant social science field.
  • No less than ten years of professional experience in education, inclusive education, or inclusion of vulnerable groups in education.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in conducting or managing research projects.
  • Ability to develop resources/materials for training and delivery of trainings.
  • Familiarity with the international framework and trends in inclusive education, including Roma inclusion; this is an asset.
  • Excellent networking and collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English with superior communication and presentation skills.
  • Capacity to adapt and meet deadlines under pressure.
