Job Description

The primary objective of this role is to provide high-quality accounting services. This involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

This position requires a variety of accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update general ledgers, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Assist in the preparation of ad hoc and monthly reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Assist in the treatment of prepayments, accruals, and capitalization.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Verify payables entries to the correct subsidiary, department, and location.
  • Report on payables and receivables, assisting both the AP and AR departments in reporting, complete with days outstanding calculations.

Reconciliations & Analysis:

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost control.
  • Manage the AP team's credit card processing and refinements.

Compliance & Audit Support:

  • Prepare documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for regulatory reporting.

Other Duties:

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requested by management.
  • Assist with company policies implementation and policing/monitoring.
Required Skills & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA certification or equivalent (preferred).
  • Proven experience in general accounting or a related field.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Australian standards is optimal, NZ & US additional.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (i.e., Oracle NetSuite preferred) and MS Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
