Job Description

At our organization, we are seeking a highly skilled Accounts Receivable Specialist to play a key role in securing revenue and fostering positive customer relationships. As an experienced accounts receivable professional, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of customer accounts, negotiating payment terms, and resolving billing issues.

We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. If you have a passion for finance and customer service, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contact customers via phone, email, or fax to discuss outstanding invoices and billing issues.
  • Manage a collections portfolio ranging from 300 to 600 accounts, focusing on Canadian and/or US territory of accounts.
  • Negotiate customer payment terms as needed based on assessment of account status to ensure maximum payment recovery.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customer accounts and champion company policies.
  • Manage past-due hold requests within the SLA in order to mitigate risk to the organization.
  • Work with internal sales reps to proactively troubleshoot payment issues.
  • Document and track collections activity and work from a monthly aging report.
  • Manage individual and department monthly receivable targets.
  • Reconcile accounts regularly.
Requirements:
  • A completed college diploma (preferably in Accounting or Finance) or related experience.
  • Two to three years of experience in corporate (B2B) collections, focusing on medium to enterprise-level customers.
  • Experience with accounts receivable escalation processes and taking initiative to resolve account issues.
  • A good understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Similar experience managing a portfolio of accounts.
  • Customer service oriented.
