Publishing Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Publishing Assistant to join our team. As the founder's right-hand collaborator, you will play a pivotal role in bringing creative ideas to life and ensuring the smooth development and promotion of our titles.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and organized individual with a passion for publishing to make a meaningful contribution to our company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the development of children's books from concept to publication.
  • Coordinate with illustrators, ghostwriters, and other freelancers.
  • Monitor project timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Review and provide feedback on drafts.
  • Organize and maintain book-related files and documentation.
  • Support promotional efforts including basic advertising, content preparation for listings, and outreach.
  • Help strategize and execute marketing campaigns across online platforms.
  • Research best practices for self-publishing platforms.
  • Assist in formatting and preparing manuscripts for publication.
  • Keep track of royalties, sales, and promotional results as needed.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year experience in publishing, editorial support, or project coordination in a creative field (children's publishing is a plus).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with creatives such as illustrators and writers.
  • A self-starter with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
  • Comfortable working independently in a startup environment.
  • Familiarity with children's book content and trends is a plus.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Knowledge of publishing platforms like KDP or IngramSpark.
  • Experience with graphic design tools or basic book formatting.
  • Background in marketing or social media promotion for creative products.
