Chief Data Steward

The role of Chief Data Steward is responsible for developing and implementing data governance frameworks, strategies, and policies to ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance.

This position works across departments to align data practices with business goals and regulatory requirements, establishing data as a trusted and strategic asset.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supports the development and implementation of enterprise data governance policies, standards, and procedures
  • Assists in defining data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models
  • Monitors compliance with data governance frameworks and escalates issues as needed
  • Contributes to the development of the organization's data strategy and roadmap
  • Collaborates with business and IT stakeholders to align data initiatives with strategic objectives
  • Participates in data governance councils and working groups
  • Ensures data practices comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, local data privacy laws)
  • Promotes awareness of data governance principles and best practices across the organization
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica), and data quality concepts
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance standards
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills
