Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Manager to lead strategic governance initiatives, enforce data policies, and uphold the integrity, quality, and security of data across the organization. This role requires strong project management and analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with IT, business, and product teams.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in data governance and management, working knowledge of SQL or basic coding, and a proven ability to define and track success metrics that demonstrate the impact of governance efforts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Implement Governance Frameworks

    Apply and maintain data governance policies, procedures, and best practices under the direction of the Director of Data Governance to ensure data quality, consistency, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead Governance Projects

    Manage the execution of governance initiatives, set clear goals, monitor progress, and provide regular updates to leadership.
  • Develop Success Metrics

    Create and maintain dashboards and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of governance programs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    Partner with IT, business, operations, and product teams to align governance activities with broader organizational objectives.
  • Enhance Data Quality

    Work with data stewards and owners to implement controls for data quality, metadata management, and data lineage tracking.
  • Ensure Compliance & Access Control

    Support compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA) and manage access control frameworks based on contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote Data Stewardship

    Deliver training and advocacy programs to foster a culture of accountability and data stewardship across the organization.
  • Stay Current on Trends

    Monitor emerging trends, tools, and regulatory changes in data governance and recommend process improvements as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance principles and frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK, DGI).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL or basic coding to support data validation and automation.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
  • Experience defining and tracking success metrics for governance programs.
  • Ability to translate business needs into scalable governance solutions.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools such as Databricks, Collibra, Informatica, or Alation is a plus.
