Job Overview

The Corporate Accounting Specialist position is a dynamic role that requires a detail-oriented individual to assist in monthly financial reviews, bank feed updates, payroll recording, client communications, and periodic client accounting clean-up.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transaction Processing: Code transactions from each bank or credit card account according to written processes. The ideal candidate will be able to review and match transactions, cross-check and review rules, suggest recurring transaction adjustments, research suggested coding, and prepare questions for clients.
  • Bank Account Reconciliations: Assist with end-of-month reconciliation for assigned client accounts. This includes reviewing weekly uncleared transactions, proposing solutions, pulling statements, performing reconciliations per written process, researching issues, and proposing resolutions to Senior Corporate Accounting Specialists.
  • Credit Card Reconciliations: Reconcile client credit card activity by pulling statements, preparing itemized lists for cardholders, coding charges per NARPM standards, suggesting and cross-checking coding, and creating upload templates for QuickBooks.
  • Monthly Financial Review: Follow up with clients on unrecorded income/expenses, cross-check statements for accuracy, and respond to client questions about coding decisions.
  • Payroll Recording: Record payroll transactions using templates, prepare journal entries, upload to QuickBooks and/or Xero, book benefit bills, and reconcile clearing accounts.
  • Accounting Cleanup: Assist with cleanup in areas such as revenue coding, payroll, balance sheet accounts, maintain strong accounting practices, and attention to detail.
Requirements:
  • Background in Accounting or understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to learn new concepts with written and hands-on support.
  • Experience in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Xero.
  • Understanding of property management accounting.
  • Familiarity with the NARPM Standard Chart of Accounts.
  • Experience in AppFolio or related reports.
  • Payroll processing and payroll tax filing experience.
  • Prior experience with financial auditing or financial review.
