Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for submitting claims to insurance companies, processing data from medical coders, and ensuring claims are processed and paid.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage inbound and outbound calls with patients, providers, and healthcare insurance companies regarding inquiries, appointments, and data verification
  • Maintain excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
  • Help with denials and follow-ups, correcting denial claims and resubmitting as needed
  • Submit electronic and paper claims to primary, secondary, and third-party insurance companies
  • Record and verify explanation of benefits
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, verifying insurance, follow-ups, and authorizations

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Customer service experience in insurance billing or a related field
  • HIPAA Certification is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
