Job Overview

The Mortgage Loan Underwriter plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of mortgage loan packages before delivery to capital markets loan buyers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mortgage Loan Package Review: Conduct meticulous reviews and validations of all mortgage loan components, including borrower documentation, financial data, and property appraisals.
  • Ensure accurate calculations and validations to guarantee the integrity and reliability of the loan package.
  • Promote a high standard of excellence by preparing mortgage loan packages that meet or exceed capital market buyer requirements.
  • Anticipate and address potential discrepancies to prevent investor objections or rejections.
  • Credit Risk Mitigation: Identify and resolve credit issues to minimize risks, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and maintaining a transparent audit trail.
  • Provide meticulous documentation for each underwriting decision, ensuring seamless integration with existing processes.
  • Quality Assurance & Process Enhancement: Conduct quality checks on completed loan packages to uphold exceptional standards of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mortgage loan underwriting (conventional, FHA/VA, non-QM).
  • Familiarity with TRID guidelines and agency/investor guidelines (Fannie/Freddie/HUD/VA).
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency, speed, and accuracy in written communication.
  • Fluency, clarity, and good diction in English.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities.
