Medical Scheduler Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented medical scheduler to join our team, specializing in family medicine and internal medicine support. In this role, you will provide exceptional customer service to patients over the phone, schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and maintain accurate patient records within a designated electronic health record system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provision of professional and courteous greetings to callers and prompt addressing of patient needs
  • Scheduling of primary care appointments, including annual exams, chronic care follow-ups, acute visits, and preventive screenings
  • Verification of patient insurance coverage and eligibility, including co-pays, deductibles, and network status
  • Maintenance and update of patient records accurately in the designated electronic health record system
  • Assistance with patient portal setup and troubleshooting
  • Collaboration with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and timely care delivery
  • Response to patient inquiries regarding test results, referrals, and follow-up instructions in alignment with practice policies
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in family medicine or internal medicine
  • Proficiency in the designated electronic health record system, including scheduling, documentation, and patient communication features
  • Strong knowledge of primary care visit types, referral processes, and insurance requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Expertise in family medicine/internal medicine scheduling protocol
  • Proficiency in the designated electronic health record system
  • Strong knowledge of insurance verification and referral coordination
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
