Job Overview

This role involves reviewing medical files and assisting medical providers in the examination room. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and possess proficiency in MS Office applications.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    1. Prepares case files and Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) assigned through the client portal.
    2. Reviews and bookmarks medical records and creates a synopsis to answer medical opinion questions based on the veteran's medical history.
    3. Remotely assists the medical provider during a scheduled appointment by accessing, navigating, and preparing different apps in the medical provider's computer in the exam room prior to the scheduled appointment.
    4. Transcribes the medical history based on the veteran's answers to the questions in the DBQ.
    5. Documents all physical examination findings in the appropriate section of the DBQs.
    6. Completes all sections of the DBQ spreadsheets after each appointment.
    7. Meets with medical providers to discuss each assigned case to determine the final diagnosis per DBQ and for approval of medical opinions.
    8. Transfers data from the DBQ spreadsheet to the client portal.
    9. Submits DBQs in the client portal.
    10. Answers queries/addendum reports from the client's QAs.
    11. Coordinates with medical providers and other team members regarding the scheduled appointments per day.
Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education:

    1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), active PHRN license.

  • Skills:

    1. Good communication skills to effectively assist veterans, medical providers, and colleagues.
    2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    3. Flexibility in work schedule changes as needed.
    4. Accountability for all assigned cases.
    5. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
