Job Summary

This role entails overseeing the entire engagement process from inception to completion with minimal supervision.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage assigned files, overseeing engagement work from planning through delivery.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by understanding their business models and providing timely communication via phone and email.
  • Participate in strategic meetings and contribute to engagement strategy development.
  • Review prior year files, draft preparatory client questions, and manage document collection for accurate submissions.
  • Prepare compiled financial statements, note disclosures as necessary, and corporate tax returns in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor deadlines for tax filings, bank reporting, and other critical deliverables to ensure timely submission.
  • Prepare HST/GST returns, WSIB annual returns, and EHT returns according to regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform GL account reviews to verify reasonability and accuracy of allocations.
  • Reconcile Canadian investment accounts and track tax-reporting data for capital assets.
Requirements
  • Hold a diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Possess 2–4 years of experience in Canadian public accounting.
  • Be a CPA designation holder in progress or newly earned.
  • Be proficient in iFirm, CaseWare/CaseView, Microsoft 365, and cloud storage.
  • Have familiarity with CCH iFirm, Caseware, Taxprep, QBO, Adobe, and relevant software applications.
  • Understand ASPE and Canadian tax standards.
  • Possess knowledge of compliance areas including GST/HST, payroll, EHT, WSIB, and CRA programs.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent client-facing experience.
