We are seeking a seasoned Security Specialist to join our team and help safeguard the open source community.

About the Role

This is an engineering-focused position that involves analyzing, fixing, and testing vulnerabilities in open source packages. You will also be responsible for monitoring and addressing emerging threats within the Ubuntu ecosystem, as well as collaborating with internal teams and upstream developers to develop and implement robust security features.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing and resolving vulnerabilities in open source software
  • Monitoring and addressing emerging security threats
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement security solutions

You will have a thorough understanding of common security vulnerabilities and techniques for mitigation. Familiarity with coordinated disclosure practices and open-source development methodologies is also essential. Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred) and proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript) is required.

A strong logical thinker with excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
