Senior Network Engineer Opportunity

Role Overview

KCAT is transforming its provincial ISP infrastructure to achieve scale, resilience, and observability. We are seeking a seasoned Senior Network Engineer to lead the design and deployment of our next-generation BNG, edge, and access platforms.

You will join at a critical juncture, where legacy systems are being replaced with high-performance, open-source-driven stacks that require expertise in engineering and deploying modern network solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deploy BGP edge routers with RPKI/ROV, uRPF, Flowspec, and RTBH technologies.
  • Implement IPoE BNG systems, per-sub QoS enforcement, DHCPv6-PD, and IPv6-first routing strategies.
  • Integrate OLTs via ACS (GenieACS) and TR-069 protocols with ZTP for efficient operations.
  • Establish an observability stack using Prometheus, Grafana, sFlow/NetFlow, and Alertmanager for real-time monitoring and alerting.
  • Develop and validate edge ACLs, scrubbing integration, and anomaly detection alerts to ensure secure network operations.
  • Mentor junior engineers, create runbooks, and develop rollback MOPs for remote hands to ensure smooth network operations.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in ISP-grade routing and switching, preferably with FRR, VyOS, or OcNOS.
  • Expertise in BGP/OSPF, PPPoE/IPoE, uRPF, QoS, NAT, and AAA protocols.
  • Familiarity with Proxmox, Linux, and containerized monitoring using Docker/Prometheus stack.
  • Working knowledge of optical fiber networks, OLT/ONU provisioning, VLAN planning, and experience working in a countryside setting.
