Technical Drafting Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Technical Drafting Specialist to join our team. This is a key role that involves working closely with designers and production teams to ensure technical drawings align with design intent, manufacturing capabilities, and material specifications.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting, deep knowledge of materials and construction methods used in furniture making, and the ability to work efficiently in a collaborative environment. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit is required.

  • Main Responsibilities:
    • Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings and schematics for furniture production.
    • Translate design concepts and sketches into fully dimensioned production-ready technical documents.
    • Maintain organized documentation of all revisions, drawings, and technical records.
  • Furniture Production Coordination:
    • Collaborate with designers and production teams to ensure technical drawings align with design intent, manufacturing capabilities, and material specifications.
    • Review and adjust designs for structural integrity, ergonomics, and material efficiency.
    • Provide technical support during prototyping, fabrication, and installation phases.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Ensure all designs comply with applicable safety and quality standards, including load requirements and material tolerances.
    • Perform checks on all drawings before release to ensure dimensional accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Project Support and Communication:
    • Participate in design reviews and project planning meetings to provide technical input and updates.
    • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and suppliers to meet project timelines and deliverables.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Drafting, Industrial Design, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in technical drafting, specifically in the furniture manufacturing or millwork industry.
  • Strong understanding of woodworking techniques, joinery, materials, and hardware used in furniture production.
  • Familiarity with CNC production workflows, material optimization, and lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
