Seeking an entry-level Guidance Counselor to join our education team.

Job Description

This position involves providing support to students in their academic and personal development, promoting a culture of excellence and inclusivity within the institution. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the education team to deliver high-quality guidance services that meet the diverse needs of our student population.

The role includes assessing student applicants' psychological well-being in relation to mainstream education and school standards and policies. Conducting routine and follow-up interviews of students referred to the office is also a key responsibility, ensuring that a proper referral system is followed.

Additional responsibilities include preparing yearly guidance modules that regularly meet the needs and concerns of the student body, including intervention programs for students referred to the guidance center. A functional guidance, counseling, and mental health program geared toward the optimum development of students and staff will also be prepared by the successful candidate.

Evaluating students' abilities and interests through aptitude assessments and interviews, identifying school issues affecting students' academic performance, and conducting individual and group counseling sessions to address behavioral problems or develop effective organizational skills and study habits are all critical aspects of this role.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling required.
  • Registered Guidance Counselor (RGC) certification essential.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of immersive experience in different guidance and counselling services such as testing, placement, counseling, and research in the tertiary level.
  • Knowledge of various models of teaching and guidance modules necessary.
  • Working knowledge of utilizing operations and innovations to handle growing populations advantageous.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills crucial.
  • Database management, research, critical thinking, and leadership skills highly valued.
  • Ability to operate within a wide range of student backgrounds and personalities required.
  • Excellent command of English language both written and verbal essential.
  • Interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills highly desirable.
  • Independent and self-starter with strong focus on student development preferred.
