Tax Consultant Role

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Tax Consultant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, advising clients on tax-related matters, and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review U.S. individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns (Forms 1040, 1120, 1065, etc.)
  • Advise clients on tax planning, compliance, and structuring matters
  • Represent clients before the IRS in audits, appeals, and collection cases
  • Assist in preparing responses to IRS notices and handling tax controversy matters
  • Ensure timely and accurate filings with adherence to IRS and state-specific guidelines
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., accounting, legal) on tax issues
  • Keep up to date with U.S. tax laws, international tax treaties, and IRS updates
  • Support ITIN application and acceptance agent services (if applicable)
  • Train junior staff or tax associates as needed
    • Must have current Enrolled Agent (EA) credentials.
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
    • A minimum of four years of experience in U.S. tax preparation and consulting preferred.
    • Strong understanding of U.S. tax codes, especially for individuals and small businesses
    • Experience with tax software (e.g., Drake, ProSeries, UltraTax, or similar)
    • Familiarity with FATCA, FBAR, and foreign asset reporting.
    • Knowledge of QuickBooks or other accounting software
    • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients.
    • Proficient with taxation software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
    • Experience with complex tax issues and strategies is a plus.
