Embedded Linux Engineer Role Overview

This Embedded Linux Engineer position involves working with customers to gather requirements and explain Canonical technology.

Key responsibilities include elaborating solutions to be proposed to prospective clients, participating in the delivery of select projects related to Embedded Linux, and conveying market requirements to key stakeholders.

Additionally, this role requires being a customer advocate and trusted advisor to Canonical.
Job Responsibilities

  • Engage customers during presales to gather requirements and explain Canonical technology
  • Elaborate solutions to be proposed to prospective clients
  • Participate in the delivery of select projects related to Embedded Linux
  • Convey market requirements to key stakeholders and contribute to the development or refinement of generic solutions to unlock market potential
  • Be both a customer advocate and a trusted advisor to Canonical

Requirements

To succeed in this Embedded Linux Engineer role, you will need:

  • Fluent Mandarin language skills and willingness to travel to China regularly
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Extensive Linux experience - Debian or Ubuntu preferred
  • Distribution/Packaging experience (deb, rpm, ...)
  • Solid embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot...)
  • Proficiency in at least one of Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
  • Professional written and spoken English in addition to the local language
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Result-oriented, ability to multi-task
  • A personal drive to meet commitments; humble learner and quick study
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time for customer meetings, company events, and conferences
