SQL Database Administrator

We are seeking a seasoned SQL database administrator to oversee the maintenance and optimization of our MySQL databases. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing, maintaining, and optimizing MySQL databases while supporting MS SQL Server operations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of storage engines (InnoDB vs MyISAM), query optimization, and troubleshooting performance issues.

Additionally, they should have experience with deadlock resolution, transaction management, backup/restore strategies, and familiarity with Zabbix monitoring or similar tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain MySQL databases with a focus on performance tuning, optimization, and maintenance.
  • Support MS SQL Server administration, including regular maintenance, backup management, and performance monitoring.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and alerts using Zabbix or other monitoring tools to ensure database health.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize slow-running or problematic database queries.
  • Resolve transaction-related issues such as deadlocks, hung transactions, and locking problems.
  • Design, implement, and test robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on MySQL administration experience.
  • MS SQL Server administration background.
  • Strong knowledge of query optimization and troubleshooting performance issues.
  • Experience with deadlock resolution and transaction management.
  • Backup/restore strategy implementation experience.
  • Familiarity with Zabbix monitoring or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues to non-specialists.
