Lead Credit Risk Strategist

The Lead Credit Risk Strategist will develop, implement and maintain credit risk policies and procedures tailored to real estate transactions.

  • Credit Policy & Strategy: Develop, implement and maintain credit risk policies and procedures tailored to real estate transactions, including residential, commercial and mixed-use properties; Align credit strategies with the company's investment and development goals.
  • Credit Evaluation & Approval: Lead the assessment of borrower creditworthiness, including individuals, developers and institutional clients; Approve or escalate credit decisions based on risk thresholds and financial analysis.
  • Portfolio Risk Management: Monitor the performance of the credit portfolio, identify emerging risks and implement mitigation strategies; Ensure proper risk grading and timely reporting of potential problem loans.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of credit analysts and underwriters; Promote a culture of accountability, continuous learning and collaboration.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with legal, finance and property management teams to ensure smooth deal execution and risk alignment; Support due diligence efforts for acquisitions and new developments.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Provide regular reports to executive leadership on credit performance, risk exposure and key metrics; Leverage data analytics to enhance credit decision-making and forecasting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • Graduated cum laude or better from university is preferred.
  • 8–10+ years of experience in credit risk management, preferably in real estate or top financial institutions.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. lending regulations and real estate market dynamics.
  • Proficiency in credit scoring models, financial analysis and risk assessment tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
  • Solid organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess strong work ethic.
