Accounting Specialist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team. This is a dynamic role that requires strong accounting skills and attention to detail.

This position will be responsible for preparing personal and business tax returns, conducting research on necessary laws, determining tax liability, and preparing projections and planning tasks for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Returns: Prepare accurate and timely tax returns utilizing firm templates and order of file.
  • Research and Planning: Conduct thorough research on necessary laws and determine tax liability for clients.
  • Correspondence and Bookkeeping: Handle correspondence with IRS and state agencies, prepare payment plans, and provide QuickBooks support.
  • Review and Compliance: Review monthly and quarterly bookkeeping, update payroll lists, and prepare W-2s, W-3s, 1099, and 1096 at year-end.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance-related field
  • Proficient in tax and accounting software/tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks, CCH Access/ProFX Tax, Intelliconnect Tax Research, Intelliforms, Tax Tools, CFS Payroll, Practice Management Time Entry, Accounting Research, PFX Tax Planning, Proseries Tax Planner, CCH Engagement External Bookkeeper
  • Licensed as a certified public accountant is a plus
  • Excellent grasp of all Microsoft 365 applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude in data management, analytics, and reporting preparation
  • Ability to function in an autonomous environment—independent worker, self-directed
