Key Roles and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a skilled, dedicated, and highly organized Writer-Editor who is deadline-oriented and familiar with essay writing, prompt-based narrative writing, and other creative nonfiction writing.

This individual will play a significant role in developing and enhancing written content for college applications, provide detailed feedback, and emphasize clarity, style, and structure.

The ideal candidate should have a strong grip on grammar, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within our team.

  • Writing and Editing:
  • Brainstorming sessions with consultants to determine essay directions, providing feedback to students, and editing rough drafts to fix grammar, clarity, style, flow, structure, and word count.
  • Expect extensive rounds of edits for essays reviewed and revised by candidates.
  • Research:
  • Conduct research on various topics to strengthen student work, depending on their interests and profiles.
  • Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with team members to draft, brainstorm, augment, and review assignments with urgent deadlines.
  • Administration and Logistics:
  • Communicate logistical needs with team members, organize send-outs of completed assignments to clients, and schedule review meetings with consultants and senior editors.
  • Business Development:
  • Work on projects that contribute to team growth and company development during the off-season.
  • High-Level Skills and Integrity:
  • Use of AI tools such as ChatGPT or Bard is strictly prohibited as AI-generated content will automatically disqualify student applications. Termination is immediate if found using AI tools.

Requirements:

Exceptional English verbal and written skills, graduated from a 4-year degree program in English, Literature, Journalism, Education, or related fields. Graduates from other fields encouraged to apply with heavily scrutinized written samples.

Experience working for an education consulting company specializing in college admissions preferred but not required.

Portfolio with minimum three written samples including one creative piece and one research sample.

Experience working during PST hours preferred but not required.

Willingness to participate in an Internship Day before training, a paid day where successful candidates spend time shadowing team members, engaging in editing tasks, experiencing daily workflow, and choosing Cardinal Education after being chosen.
