Remote Mentorship Opportunity

The In-Field Mentor role is a part-time, temporary position that supports missionaries in their initial twelve weeks in the field. As a mentor, you will train remotely using Preach My Gospel (PMG) principles and other missionary resources to provide real-world experiences within the In-Field Missionary Learning and Development division.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with trainers and supervisors to ensure seamless execution of mentorship tasks.
  • Engage with missionaries through one-on-one coaching, small group facilitation, and regular follow-ups to provide instruction, counsel, and feedback.
  • Develop and prepare sessions based on an approved curriculum to meet the unique needs of each missionary.
  • Guide missionaries in planning and accounting for their learning progress.
  • Implement direction and training from senior leaders within the In-Field MLD department.
  • Participate in weekly training meetings and one-on-one sessions with the Mentor Trainer.
  • Maintain continuous growth, development, and understanding of In-Field MLD practices and PMG curriculum.
  • Report on the needs and progress of assigned tasks to leadership.
  • Coach missionaries in preparation for and during practice, live sessions, and follow-up.
  • Ensure the well-being of each missionary.
  • Additional responsibilities may include serving as a Training Area Assistant or assisting with Mission Leadership Seminars.
Qualifications
  • A returned missionary with less than 3 years of service or currently teaching at an MTC unless exceptional language need is identified.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Outstanding coaching, facilitation, and training abilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Preach My Gospel.
  • Ability to train remotely through video calls on a desktop or laptop.
  • Interpersonal, prioritizing, professionalism, and leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively with people.
  • Willingness to receive and implement feedback.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Physical requirements may include sitting or standing for long periods and using monitors/equipment/headset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A returned missionary with 2 years or less of service.
  • MTC classroom teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience with online interactions, including chat and video conferencing.
  • Fluency in a second language.
