AI Engineer Lead Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading healthcare company as an AI Engineer Lead. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting the AI-first future of our clinical operating system, ClinicOS.

You will work closely with the Head of Engineering and the CEO to build AI systems that deliver world-class healthcare at software scale. This is a full-time, fully remote role that requires a strong technical expertise, strategic vision, and experience in building production applications powered by LLMs.

The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on AI and machine learning. They will possess strong programming skills using Typescript and/or Python, experience designing and building modern, customer-facing APIs, and comfortable building user-friendly interfaces using React or similar frameworks.

The successful candidate will also have experience leading engineering team members, building evaluation and monitoring systems for LLM applications in production, and experience with cloud platforms (AWS) at enterprise scale.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and lead our AI systems across the entire company.
  • Develop a model-agnostic AI platform that lets us switch between OpenAI, Anthropic, and open-source models seamlessly.
  • Set up robust A/B testing to optimize performance and costs.
  • Create intelligent routing that matches tasks to the right models.
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring and ensure high reliability with proper fallbacks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong technical expertise in AI and machine learning.
  • Experience building production applications powered by LLMs.
  • Strong programming skills using Typescript and/or Python.
  • Experience designing and building modern, customer-facing APIs.
  • Comfortable building user-friendly interfaces using React or similar frameworks.
  • Experience leading engineering team members.
