About the Position
This role involves supporting a wide range of activities within our insurance and authorization department. As an Insurance Specialist, you will be involved in creating policies, processes, and documents. You will work directly with one of our customers, delivering tasks outlined in the job responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Verify patient insurance coverage to ensure accuracy and eligibility for proposed healthcare services.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive authorization requests to insurance companies with all required documentation.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to gather relevant clinical information and facilitate the prior authorization process.
- Monitor the status of authorization requests, follow up with insurance companies, and maintain detailed records of communications.
- Investigate and address insurance denials, resubmitting requests and appealing denials when necessary.
- Communicate with patients to explain the prior authorization process, potential delays, and any financial responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and insurance company policies.
- Other insurance-related tasks assigned.
Requirements:
- 1 to 3 years of experience in insurance verification and pre-authorization is required.
- Able to work from 8am to 5pm EST.
- Must handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, growing environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail, multi-tasking, and organizational skills are essential.
- Able to accurately perform data entry and pay close attention to detail.
